CHEAM RANGERS DONATE KITS TO KIT AID

Above: George Pullinger and Jess Fernando pose with a box of Cheam Rangers kits prior to donation.
KitAid is a registered charity (no.113968) that collects and sends no longer wanted Team Football Kits, Shorts, Boots, Goalie Gloves and Replica Team Shirts to children and adults who also love football but live in some of the poorest parts of the world. KitAid was started in 1998 and each year sends thousands of football items to places such as Tanzania, Ghana, Mali, Burkina Faso, Nigeria and Eastern Europe.
Cheam Rangers have donated a full set of kits to this very worthwhile charity, and are proud to receive a certificate in recognition of our gift (see below).

CHEAM RANGERS U12 GIRLS CLINCH DOUBLE BY LIFTING
THE SURREY COUNTY GIRLS LEAGUE CUP 2008
Cheam Rangers 3 - 0 Croydon Borough
![]() | On a sweltering afternoon at Merstham FC near Redhill, in front of a crowd of over 100 people, Cheam Rangers Girls rounded off their Championship winning season by securing The Surrey Girls League Cup in the final versus Croydon Borough Girls to clinch a double for the second consecutive season. Cheam took the lead early in the first half through Edie Kelly's astute overhead kick and doubled their lead just before half time when poacher Georgia Ward followed up to finish smartly with a trademark goal after Charlotte Carbury's fierce drive could only be parried by the Croydon keeper. |
![]() | The second half saw Croydon start brightly before top scorer Edie Kelly again nudged home after a typically long throw in from Charlotte Carbury had eluded the Croydon keeper. With tireless running and harrying from Jess Fernando (below left) in midfield and a solid defence marshalled expertly once again by captain Carly Pullinger (above left), Croydon could find no meaningful way through. Poppy Blendell and Courtney Castles (left) provided Cheam with real moments of skill and tricky running throughout the game that always had Croydon on the back foot. |
![]() | On the odd occasion when Croydon threatened from set pieces or long balls, Cheam keeper Heidi Stiller kept them at bay - including a fabulous one on one save when the score was just 1-0. Heidi deservedly earned the Player of The Match award for efforts. In defence, Shannon Hartigan made several vital interceptions, including two brave headers from Croydon corners, and Cara Edwards was especially strong in clearing her lines powerfully at every opportunity. |

CHAMPIONS!!!!
CHEAM RANGERS GIRLS CROWNED SURREY COUNTY CHAMPIONS
FOR RECORD BREAKING 3RD CONSECUTIVE YEAR
A 0-1 victory away to Fleet Town secured the U12 Premier League Championship for Cheam Rangers Girls. This was followed up by a 1-6 away victory to Hamsey Wildcats and a season closing 1-1 draw away to Molesey Moles.
This is the first time in the history of the Surrey County Girls League that any team has won the Premier Championship at three different levels in three consecutive seasons. The core of the team has remained the same across all three years but has been bolstered by some important additions year on year.
Cheam Rangers season finishes with participation in the South East England Trophy Tournament followed by the League Cup final versus Croydon Borough Girls on Sunday May 11th.
Well done to all the girls in the team and especially to manager Dave Pullinger and coach Brian Ward.

CHEAM RANGERS TIGHTEN THEIR GRIP

Bad weather, wind and rain couldn't keep Cheam Rangers Girls from tightening their grip once again on the Surrey U12 Premier League Championship - the biggest prize of the lot.
Four wins out of four in two consecutive double header games over the past two weeks against Beecholme Belles and second placed AFC Wimbledon saw the girls stretch their points tally to 43.
Thanks to all the players (and parents - see below) who braved the elements to get the games played against AFC Wimbledon on Sunday 16th March.

RANGERS AIM TO STAY ON TOP
by Phillip Hawkins
Cheam Rangers Girls gave a lot to live up to as they attempt to emulate last season's undeafeated league and cup double.
Rangers, who play in The Surrey County Women's & Girls Premier League, have taken the game by storm since being founded in 2005. Assistant Manager David Fernando is confident that the "truly local team" who have been the best in Surrey for the past two years, have what it takes to do it again when the season gets underway next month.
He said: "The competition this year is going to be much stiffer with AFC Wimbledon putting out a team, but we should be able to cope with it." Captain Carly Pullinger - who has also been selected to play for Chelsea - is one of many Rangers who have been noticed by top teams.
"After doing so well for the past couple of years, some of the big clubs have taken notice." said Fernando. "We were asked to play Fulham, beat them, and now two of our girls play there as well."
Manager Dave Pullinger said:"The girls' attiitude has been amazing, with total dedication and hard work. I would like to thank the parents for their commitment and loyalty."
